Ibla Buskers
Every October since 1995, the streets of Ibla fill up with the fantasy and creativity brought by some
of Europe and the world's leading street artists. For five evenings or so, the streets and alleys of the
Baroque quarter resound with the noise of laughter, excitement and general all-round enjoyment as the public
are entertained by imaginative and creative buskers. The public can get carried away by the travelling showmen
who aim to impress.
All types of buskers take part in the event: fire-eaters, clowns, jugglers, acrobats, musicians, actors and so
on. Together they combine art and fantasy in an irresistible mix which never fails to thrill and excite the public.
Ibla is unfailingly crowded with people of all ages during the festival, curious and fascinated by the skill and
dedication of artists who, despite often lacking financial backing or support for their trade, manage to stage
world class displays. Perhaps the key to the festivals wonderful success is the enthusiasm they bring with them
and the direct contact between artist and onlooker.
The Edrisi association is the brain behind the operation. Its dedicated members have managed to repeat its
success year after year to the point that Ibla Buskers is now a festival that attracts street artists from all
over Italy and from abroad.
